'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith continues battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he remembers the dramatic final moments of Swansea's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The game wrapped up with Galbraith picking up a fan's glasses amid the pitch-side pile-on.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a long-range effort from 25 yards, and the defender promptly converted the rebound before charging toward the crowd to revel in the moment, with the crowd mobbing the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The result sealed an extraordinary comeback given Swansea had trailed 2-0 deep into the second half. In the euphoria, there was some collateral damage. The midfielder recalled, "There was a fan trying to get our attention and Josh Key and I were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

That win secured a next round fixture at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a club Galbraith pushed hard at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with the London side in February. The athletic midfielder had an excellent perspective when his former team took the lead in stunning style, with Jamie Donley's first-time shot from about way out going in via the woodwork and the Stefan Ortega. It seems unfair that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've awarded it to him for having a go from that far out," commented Galbraith, who started in midfield before switching to right flank after the team changed tactics. That meant getting to grips with the England international, with whom he traded tops, and the player was among the Manchester squad who complimented the way Orient attacked the game.

Guardiola's System

"Physically they are outstanding but even the simple things and basic skills, they can just perform consistently," the midfielder notes. "It feels like they complete every delivery and they know how to dictate and slow down a game. You can believe you're doing well and then suddenly they will just thread a ball between defenders without you even seeing. You have to be switched on every second of the game. It demands a strong mentality and focus just to stay in the game."

New Chapter

Swansea were keen on Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to bring him in in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He made a name as a popular figure across two seasons at Orient and has quickly done the same in south Wales. At his previous team he joined forces once more with Richie Wellens, who previously gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in professional games on loan at Doncaster from United. Then came a loan at League Two Salford, before he departed Manchester United.

Development Path

"I was probably a bit naive going into professional soccer. I think many athletes would say development squad matches is entirely separate. Sometimes it feels like possession is exchanged without real physicality. There's not many tackles or duels. Once you start playing men's games you have to adjust fast."

International Recognition

He has shown that maturation for both domestically and internationally, excelling for his national side, who are fighting to qualify for the World Cup next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has started the recent fixtures, including two matches encounters against the German national team. The ex-coach, Galbraith's ex- international manager, gave him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he manipulates the ball and his ability to spot a killer pass.

Starting Out

It has been an incredible journey for the player from the Queens Park estate in the Belfast suburb, just outside the capital, who used to see his parent, Stuart, also a engine room operator, play for a local club.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's single match for the Red Devils came in the away trip in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the host city, where they competed on an plastic turf and the arena covering was sealed owing to the weather of bitter cold. "It was a extended travel and it was freezing," he comments, chuckling. "The preceding week, several youth players and I practiced as a group, so that assisted our preparation. Just to join the main group and get a couple of minutes at the end was incredible."

Departing Old Trafford

How hard was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he joined from Linfield aged a teenager? "It was quite easy, because I reached the point where I understood I wouldn't break through at the top level. I'm very appreciative for the time I spent there but it got to the point where I believed I needed to go my own route, drop down the leagues and play men's football. Now I'm gradually climbing the ladder."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during the early part of the afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has a commitment at late afternoon: a road rules assessment, another progress toward getting on the road. Before his recent move to Sketty, the mid-twenties player was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a small coach driven by academy staff, the transport team, which transports players to and from training and matches.

"I travel with Gonçalo Franco, the Brazilian, an Ivorian player – a former passenger used to be in it but has got his license. It's pleasant to spend time with the lads but I'm hoping to be the following person out of the minibus and driving. The Portuguese player likes to pull a few pranks; he's frequently playing tricks."

Public Engagement

During his time at his former club, Galbraith would mix with supporters on public transport after beginning his trip at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
